ACCESS AND EQUITY: INDIGENOUS HEALTH AND LAW IN CANADA

The McGill Journal of Law and Health (MJLH) is pleased to invite you to attend its ninth annual Colloquium entitled Access and Equity: Indigenous Health and Law in Canada. The aim of this bilingual and student-based initiative is to foster interdisciplinary dialogue on issues that lie at the intersection of health and law. It is our hope that such dialogue will have a positive influence on health and social policy-making in Canada.

La discussion sera divisée en deux panels. Le premier portera sur des enjeux généraux traitant de l’accessibilité et de l’équité des soins de santé pour les Autochtones au Canada. Le deuxième sera axé sur la santé mentale dans les communautés autochtones à travers le Canada.

Speakers

Dr. Cindy Blackstock, PhD est professeure à l’École de travail social de l’Université McGill; Directrice exécutive de la Société de soutien à l’enfance et à la famille des Premières Nations du Canada.

Professor Larry Chartrand teaches at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law.

Mr. Normand D’Aragon est psychologue, Cofondateur et ancien directeur de l’Association Prévention Suicide Premières Nations et Inuits du Québec.

Dr. Christopher Lalonde, PhD teaches Psychology at the University of Victoria.

Dr. Ronald Niezen, PhD est professeur à la Faculté de droit et au département d’anthropologie de la Faculté des Arts de l’Université McGill; Titulaire de la Chaire Katharine A. Pearson en société civile et politiques publiques.

Dr. Janet Smylie, MD, MPH Canadian Institutes of Health Research Applied Public Health Research Chair in Indigenous Health Knowledge and Information at St. Michael’s Hospital; Director of Well Living House Action Research Centre for Indigenous Infant, Child and Family Health and Wellbeing.
