What do you do at the MJLH?
I am the Executive Managing Editor of the MJLH, which means that I organize our managing editors as they prepare events that put a public face on the journal. We host the annual colloquium, which brings legal and healthcare practitioners together in the Law Faculty, plan Continuing Legal Education seminars, Speaker Series Events, and other events on campus and in Montreal. I ameliorate, count, guard, and spend the journal’s finances.
Qu’est-que vous avez fait cet été?
Cet été, j’ai amélioré mon français à l’aide du programme j’Explore offert par le gouvernement fédéral. J’ai vécu à Rivière-du-Loup pendant 5 semaines et j’ai donc pu expérimenter pour la première fois la vie dans une résidence étudiante tout en obtenant des crédits pour McGill. Inspiré par la beauté sauvage de la région du Bas-de fleuve, j’ai décidé de pratiquer mon “québécois” en explorant la Belle Province à vélo, en voyageant à travers les Cantons de l’Est et en visitant des vignobles et de nombreux villages charmants. J’ai fait du kayak avec les baleines, j’ai vécu dans un phare, j’ai fait du bénévolat à McGill pour Campus Life and Engagement et j’ai pris soin de mon potager sur mon toit dans la Petite Italie. Ah, j’oubliais, j’ai également travaillé pour la RDSM!

I get news from many sources, but these are two of my favorites: The Atlantic and the BBC News.
In your opinion, which ‘big issues’ in health law will future lawyers have to deal with?
Research and development will expand regardless of geographic borders and legal jurisdictions will have to flex new and creative muscles in ethical debates about what we help or hinder in science and technology.
As a population, Canada is growing older and living longer. Issues regarding the rights, care and abuses of geriatric citizens will be increasingly important.
Sooner rather than later, the Marijuana debate is going to once again blur the lines between medical and social uses.
